Career Opportunities
It helps to know that the career you’re pursuing has demand. The need for massage therapists seems to be stronger than ever. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for massage therapists is projected to grow 21% by 2029. That’s much faster than average!
One reason for this boost is probably thanks to the healthcare industry. More healthcare providers are recognizing the benefits of massage. Because of this, we’ve seen more massage therapists working in the medical field.
From freelancing to working in the healthcare industry, there can be many opportunities for you as a massage therapist.
Flexible Schedules
Looking for a career with scheduling flexibility? About 46% of massage therapists in the industry are self-employed! As a self-employed massage therapist, you could set your own schedule, create your own space, travel to clients, and be your own boss. This can be a great option if you are a parent, work other jobs, or both!
Great Workplaces
Becoming a massage therapist gives you the opportunity to work in a variety of places. Some of the places you could work include:
- Spas
- Fitness Centers
- Cruise Ships
- Hotels and Resorts
- Physician Offices
- And So Much More!
Not only can you work in different kinds of locations, but you’re also working in a relaxed environment. The soft music, warm atmosphere, and calming scents can help you feel at peace as you help your clients.
Helping Others
Massage therapists don’t just help people relax. They also can help people heal. Some of the health benefits of massage are:
- Reduced Anxiety and Depression
- Increased Joint Mobility
- Improved Circulation
- Improved Recovery of Soft Tissue Injuries
- Stimulation of the Lymphatic System
As a massage therapist, your services could be essential in supporting peoples’ recovery. If you want a career where you can make a difference, our massage therapy program could be a great next step.
