How to Become an Esthetician
Where you decide to get your education is an important first step. You must attend a licensed beauty school and complete Ohio’s minimum required training hours. There are a few other steps to take that can help you achieve your goals in becoming an esthetician.
Attend an Accredited Beauty School
The first step to becoming a licensed esthetician is to get the necessary training from an accredited school. When a beauty school is nationally accredited, this means that it is recognized as an institution that offers a curriculum that can prepare students to sit for the state exam.
In the state of Ohio you must graduate from a 600-hour esthetician program. Raphaels’ School of Beauty Culture offers an advanced program that can provide you with a stronger skill set and more training. Our advanced esthetician program is a 750 hour course that can be completed in as little as 6 months!
We are an accredited school with experienced staff who care about their student’s futures. Our classes run on Tuesday-Saturday and have three different schedules to choose from:
- 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (complete in 7 months)
- 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (complete in 6 months)
- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (complete in 5.5 months)
We strive to provide you with the flexibility you need to complete and advance in your education.
How to Pay for Beauty School
Don’t let the cost of beauty school stop you from getting an education. Accredited beauty schools can offer scholarships and financial aid to help support you through school. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. We are here to walk you through the steps when applying for financial aid, so you don’t have to do it alone.
Use the Net Price Calculator to get an estimate of the total costs of your schooling, so you can better prepare for your education financially.
Register for the State Exam
Once you have completed the required hours for an esthetics program, you can apply for the Ohio state exam. Once you have been approved to sit for the exam, it’s important that you do all you can to study and prepare.
Esthetician Career Options
When students pass their state exam, the last step is to receive their license and discover a future in the beauty industry. Here are a few career options to consider as a licensed esthetician:
- Salon/Spa Owner
- Makeup Artist
- Work for a Spa or Salon
